This plant is indigenous to southern Brazil and also commonly found throughout the South and Central Americas. This flowering maple houseplant also has blooms similar in shape to hibiscus flowers. It delights butterflies and hummingbirds with its pendent bell-shaped flowers available in an array of rich colors including yellow, orange & red shape.
The flowers are known to be edible, raw or cooked, with the sweet flavor increasing the longer the bloom is open.
Care: Prefers well drained soil, water every 3-4 days. Light is needed, can do very well outside during the summer but needs be to be acclimated. This plant is a very fast grower & can be trimmed to desired shaped.
