This has long been known as the "Luson jar" in Japan. Luzon is the name of an island in the Philippines. Around 1400, black glaze jars baked in southern China were exported to the Philippines. It is called "Luson jar" because Japanese people like it very much and imported it from the Philippines to Japan. This jar was used to store tea leaves.This could be around the late 1500s to 1900s
